Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Alethia platform ("Service"), operated by Alethia ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of a business or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service. We recommend that you review these Terms periodically, as your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Alethia is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform designed to help Shopify Plus brands optimize their product pages for visibility in AI-powered search engines, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar services. The Service includes:

• +Product data synchronization from your Shopify store via the Shopify Admin API, or import via URL scraping
• +AI visibility analysis using prompts sent to third-party large language model (LLM) providers via OpenRouter
• +AI-generated optimized content including product titles, descriptions, FAQs, and meta descriptions in multiple languages
• +The ability to apply generated content back to your Shopify store or copy it to your clipboard
• +Periodic re-testing to measure changes in AI visibility over time

To use the Service, you must create an account using a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:

• +Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• +All activities that occur under your account
• +Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You must provide accurate and complete information during registration and keep your account information up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

To use core features of the Service, you must connect your Shopify store by authorizing Alethia via OAuth. By connecting your store, you grant us permission to:

• +Read product data (titles, descriptions, images, metadata, and related information) from your Shopify store
• +Write optimized content back to your Shopify store when you explicitly approve and initiate such actions

You may revoke Alethia's access to your Shopify store at any time through your Shopify admin settings. Revoking access will disable features that depend on the Shopify integration but will not delete your Alethia account or previously generated content.

You represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights and permissions to connect your Shopify store and authorize Alethia to access and modify your product data.

The Service uses third-party AI models (accessed through OpenRouter, including models such as GPT-4o-mini) to analyze your product data and generate optimized content. You acknowledge and agree that:

• +No guarantees of accuracy. AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or content that does not align with your brand voice or product specifications. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all AI-generated content before applying it to your store or using it in any other context.
• +No guarantees of results. Alethia does not guarantee any improvement in AI search visibility, search engine rankings, traffic, or sales. The AI search landscape is evolving rapidly, and the factors that influence AI model responses are outside our control.
• +Third-party processing. Your product data is sent to third-party AI model providers for analysis and content generation. While we select reputable providers, we are not responsible for how third-party services process your data beyond what is specified in their own terms and privacy policies.
• +Content review obligation. You must review all AI-generated content before publishing. Applying content to your Shopify store without review is done entirely at your own risk.

By using the Service, you agree to:

• +Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• +Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• +Not use the Service to generate content that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others
• +Not share your account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
• +Not circumvent or attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or any other technical restrictions
• +Not use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to access the Service in a manner that places undue burden on our infrastructure
• +Comply with Shopify's terms of service and acceptable use policies when using content generated by the Service on your Shopify store

The Service is offered across multiple subscription tiers (including free and paid plans), each with defined usage limits:

• +Analysis limits. Each plan includes daily and monthly caps on the number of product analyses you can run.
• +Retest cooldown. Products may only be re-tested after a minimum 7-day waiting period from the last analysis.
• +Feature availability. Certain features, such as multi-language content generation and advanced analytics, may be available only on paid plans.

Usage limits and plan features are subject to change. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes to your current plan. Exceeding usage limits may result in temporary restriction of Service access until the next billing period.

For paid subscription plans, you agree to the following:

• +Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select
• +All fees are quoted in the currency displayed at checkout and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as explicitly stated in these Terms
• +You authorize us to charge your designated payment method for all applicable fees
• +If payment fails, we may suspend your access to paid features until payment is resolved
• +We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice before the start of your next billing cycle

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access to paid features until that date.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Key points regarding data processing:

• +Product data from your Shopify store is sent to third-party AI model providers for analysis and content generation
• +We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management — we do not use Google Analytics or third-party tracking tools
• +We store your product data and generated content in our database to provide the Service and enable historical analysis comparison

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• +The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
• +Alethia shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
• +Alethia is not responsible for the output, accuracy, or quality of AI-generated content produced by third-party models.
• +Alethia is not liable for any issues arising from changes to the Shopify API, third-party AI model providers, or any other external services that the platform depends on.
• +Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Alethia in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100), whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Alethia and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

• +Your use of the Service or any content generated through the Service
• +Your violation of these Terms
• +Your publication or use of AI-generated content on your Shopify store or elsewhere, including any claims of intellectual property infringement, consumer deception, or regulatory non-compliance
• +Any dispute between you and a third party related to your use of the Service

By you. You may terminate your account at any time through the account settings or by contacting us at contact@Alethia.ai. If you are on a paid plan, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if we reasonably believe your use of the Service poses a risk to the platform or other users. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before or at the time of termination unless immediate action is necessary to protect the Service.

Data retention. Upon account deletion, your data will be retained for 30 days to allow for account recovery. After the 30-day retention period, your personal data and generated content will be permanently deleted, except where retention is required by law or where data has been anonymized and aggregated.

Survival. Sections relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and any other provisions that by their nature should survive termination, shall survive the termination of these Terms.

We strive to maintain reliable uptime, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes that significantly affect your use of the Service.

The Service relies on third-party services including, but not limited to, Shopify (for store integration), OpenRouter and its underlying AI model providers (for content analysis and generation), and Supabase (for authentication and data storage).

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of these third-party services. Changes to third-party APIs, terms, or pricing may affect the functionality of the Service. Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and policies of these third-party providers where applicable.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practical, notify you via email or through the Service.

Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and may request account deletion.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the Province of Ontario, Canada.

Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute through good-faith negotiation for a period of at least thirty (30) days.

• +Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Alethia regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
• +Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
• +Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
• +Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction.
